How To Meet Your Guides (Angel, Faery, Elemental etc)

We all have a guide or two that work with us and sometimes we are aware of them and sometimes we are not.  You might know the signs that someone is with you such as the hairs on your neck or arm raising, a popping in the ear, a coldness, a fragrance in the air but this is how far it goes and you want to know more.

Whether it is a new guide in the shape of a soul who used to walk this Earth, an angel, faery, elemental, animal etc you can use the same technique to connect, see, converse with them and it is so simple too.  Meditation is wonderful for many reasons and what better way to connect.

I like to play some music in the background, any music that you feel has meaning for you is good, not too loud though and then get yourself comfortable on the bed and relax.

In my mind I always ask first for the company of my guide and I then proceed to picture a place where I want to be so you could picture a beach, woodlands, mountain, cave, sea etc and just imagine you are walking there, take in the surroundings, the smells, the weather......then find yourself somewhere to sit comfortably and ask your guide to come forward and sit with you.

Do not rush or push yourself, your guide will come to you when you are ready and it may take a few tries over a few weeks before it will fall into place and that is ok.  When the time is right and your guide steps forward ask them to sit with you, talk to them and ask whatever questions you feel you want to know.  I like to ask them about their journey, about their life, their name....take in their looks, clothes, smile, their voice......

When you feel you have to leave just thank them, ask them to meet you here again soon and also ask them to connect to you when you need them.  One of two things will then happen, either you will awaken from the meditation and carry on with the day or you'll fall asleep, there's no danger in meditation after all when we go to bed to sleep we tend to relax and play out scenarios and eventually we drift off to sleep.

Keep a journal if you want to and record all your experiences, looking back over them in a year or so can be quite interesting but most of all enjoy the time spent in a magikal place with those who are special to you of another world.

Dryads & Fauns

**Many of us have an affinity with trees, they call to us as we pass them by and their soul has breathed in the many secrets of Mother Earth. I would place them as Earth Elementals as their roots take firm hold within the soil and they are known as Dryads. Each tree has a Faun attached to it and to tell you more about them both I've written a little piece about each one

The beautiful Dryads are tree faeries. Should you find yourself close to a tree you will undoubtedly feel the energy oozing out from every part of the tree including the roots. Being this close allows you to be on the cusp of the otherworld where the elementals reside. Try sitting beside a tree and jot down your emotions etc. It will be magical

A Faun is a nature spirit known as a tree spirit. They help trees to grow and in a way they nurture them, the Faun will offer his consciousness to help a tree grow in love and to be connected to their place of growth. In return the tree provides an opportunity to experience connection, love, a feeling of belonging etc. A faun is tied to his tree for all his life and is therefore dedicated.

Changing Times

Hi everyone,

It's been a few months since I last posted and that's because I decided last September to make some changes to my life and took the plunge by going back to night school college.  I took Psychology and although the course is by far not an easy one I decided to concentrate my efforts in learning and revising which hopefully pays off.

I've always been interested in the mind and how humans develop but didn't realize just how much we would be learning within this course but sometimes we have to make changes whether it be to better our chances of a new career or to keep our mind stimulated, staying stale is not an option for a healthy life and getting out there enables you to builds confidence as well as making new friends.

Now that my exams are over I can breathe easy for a few months until I enrol in another course but for now it's concentrating on having some fun with my writing, and hobbies and look out for some new blogs coming soon.

Wanting Space & Not Feeling Guilty

Space is something that is important for each and every one of us no matter our age but there are times when we feel guilty about wanting that space because what if it comes across as not wanting to spend time with those we care about or love or it might seem we are just being grouchy and will they be able to cope without us for a few hours..... I think these are our perceptions.

Firstly we need space for many reasons such as:

sanity
growth
down time
creative time
re energize
re connect with yourself

Sound familiar?

Space allows us to close a door and to go within our soul to a place where we can relax, be ourself, think quietly, slow down our pace, solve problems etc so why the guilt? perhaps our other half might feel left out or the kids want our attention, friends need someone to off load on, the housework needs to be done and so the list goes on and our excuses.

Truth of the matter is everyone is entitled to space and daily life just has to make a space and fit you in, family & friends can wait an hour or have this time as their own space.  So when you next need your space allow yourself to feel the benefit of what comes with spending quality time with you and don't feel guilty about replenishing energies, keeping yourself sane during a hectic day, being at one with your soul after all you do deserve it.

Is That Autumn I Can Smell?

I wondered the other day why I could detect a faint smell of Autumn in the air after all it is the height of Summer isn't it? warm and muggy days with blue skies and no clouds with a basking sun so I was puzzled let me explain why.   I always seem to be months behind with my inner body season clock even though I pick up the signs a month or so before, once we've entered a season I tend to stay there for far more months than it should last and maybe that is wishful thinking but I think it is down to the fact that time whizzes by without so much as a "excuse me please while I pass you"

So why am I surprised at this faint smell of Autumn after all next month we say goodbye to Summer as my husband pointed out, my reaction was I want more warm weather first, more visits to the beach before I feel I can say goodbye for another year but time waits for no one so I guess I must get used to the idea.

But there's something exciting about seeing in a new season and I love asking the kids to breathe in the air and tell me what they smell and yep the responses at first were quite funny but I do feel it is important that they are aware of the changing seasons and what comes with them.  Now I love Autumn with a passion, always have so the very fact that my flowers are all starting to die back along with a dead leaf smell mixed with conkers is telling me something is going to happen and soon.

I shall prepare next month with a Autumn/Mabon altar, a few offerings, a party for the family, a spell and then reflect on the Summer before looking forward to what the coming months bring.

Positive Mantras

You can never have enough positive energy in your life and the more the better but getting yourself on that ladder to happy energies can seem far off or unobtainable when we are bogged down with daily life and situations that are ongoing.

Firstly you deserve happiness and you also deserve to feel good about yourself and by allowing each of these into your life you will begin to feel the benefits, how motivational would it be to feel positive enough about you as a person to get up in the morning and being unable to wait to start the day.

Positive mental attitude and I know that most of you have heard of this but how many believe it works? words are just words right? well yes words are just words but words are powerful and when start to live them we become those words.  If you can change your thought pattern to become more uplifting instead of sad or forever pulling yourself down then the change will be worth it.

It won't be easy and neither will we constantly be positive, issues in life happen and we need to feel certain emotions in order to understand and heal them.  What we can do though is to help ourselves just feel better about who we are, a few less negative thoughts a day has got to be a far more healthy life process one that might guide us on a path to seeing more of the world, getting involved with our local community more........

So, words are powerful and having a few mantras to help you out is vital, you can say them at any time during the day or night, in any situation etc but more importantly believe them.

* I am beautiful

*I am loved

*I have abundance

*I am hope

*I am passion

*I am blessed with family/friends

*I am blessed with life

*I am love, I am desire, I am powerful

*I am worthy

Discover words of your own that make you feel good and use them often.  Set yourself a goal of saying 10 positive words today, have a positive box where you put in £1 or whatever you feel is appropriate for every positive attitude you have every day and then at the end of the week treat yourself or donate or charity.

Gratitude

If we think about it I bet you have at least 3 things in your life past or present that you can say for sure you are grateful or blessed for and I bet also that after naming these 3 gratitudes you will follow up with a few negatives....am I right?

Our mind works in such a way that we think we cannot possibly show happiness for more than a few "good" times in our live so we tend to concentrate on what we never had or don't have.  We attract into our life energies of both a positive and negative nature and they take hold by lifting us up or bringing us down often without us really realising it.

We need to find a way of booting out more of what holds us back from our true potential and embrace words, thoughts and actions that help us build a firm foundation.  This might sound harder than it actually is because all we need to do is make some alterations in the way our mind works, we need to encourage the voice we hear daily that we want a change from feeling a failure or lost completely and that we want to be the best we can.

So how can we help ourselves to build a future that is bright, positive and how can we keep it going?  with the correct attitude we can bring gratitude to the fore front and allow it to spread throughout the day until we notice changes within us.  I do believe in our abilities to manifest and we have to acknowledge that the words we think and speak are powerful, they can bring about our dreams or they can destroy.

It can be easier to just bury our heads and continue on the negative path but I want you to try something different even if only for a week just to see that gratitude can alter our lives for the better.  Below are some pointers on how to start out.

*When you throw your legs over the side of the bed each morning and you sit there getting your balance to stand up say out loud  "Today is filled with love"

*As you check yourself  in the mirror just before you leave the house in the morning say out loud  "I am worthy of love and respect today"

*Throughout the day it is important to pat yourself on the back for doing a good job not only for yourself but for others too.

*Look around you, what are you grateful for that is in your life today? work colleagues that are helpful, the beautiful view you have from the window, a smile from someone that makes you feel less stressed.......all these we might take for granted and not give a second thought too.

*Keep a journal and every evening write down 6 gratitudes that have blessed you in one way or another today.  Do not follow these positive thoughts up with negative which is what we tend to do instead think about each one and what it brought to your day.

Once we begin to think more positively and savor those moments of gratitude our thought process changes and we begin to feel abundant for what we have and are lucky to have in our lives.  Let us celebrate family, friends, love, a safe haven we call home, our childrens laughter or a thoughtful act that another has bestowed upon you.

I am grateful and feel so blessed to have a loving and funny family, friends who care, a place to call home, being able to breathe in fresh air and to listen to the birds sing every morning and evening.  I remind myself of these wonderful energies every day and give thanks that I am able to experience them.  By changing just one or two thoughts can make a huge difference to the way we view our life and who we are.

Interview With Lyn Thurman A Goddess In Her Own Right

Huge thanks to Lyn Thurman for agreeing to our interview.  Lyn is a goddess in her own right and shares with us her journey as a author and of course a goddess.

The Goddess plays a significant part in your life, do you remember the signs she gave you that made you sit up and want to discover more?

I feel like I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to learning about the Goddess.
I grew up in an atheist household so my only knowledge of spirituality came from school and that was back in the days when only Christianity was taught. I knew there were goddesses but it didn’t even occur to me that they were anything other than stories passed down in myths and legends.

My wakeup call came at a time when my life was in chaos but my spiritual path was emerging. I found a book on Wicca and it talked about a god and a goddess. That was a big ‘a-ha’ moment for me and it seemed to be the missing piece of my spiritual puzzle.

That was ten years ago and my understanding and curiosity of the Divine Feminine grows each day. It’s grown, perhaps, at a faster rate since my daughter was born because I see the necessity in teaching her about the sacred feminine presence and balance in all things.

How does magic and goddess work together when performing spell work?

When you begin to understand the divine feminine more, you see that there is an aspect of Her for any situation in life so you can ask that goddess to help you out in spell work. For example, if you want to cast a spell for more money in your life then you’d ask, respectfully of course, Lakshmi to lend a hand or if you want protection then you might ask Bastet to keep prowl.

When you work with deities, you have to remember that they have personalities and quirks so it’s important to research first rather than regret later.

I also think it’s very important to sacrifice to the goddess you’re working with too, rather than expect them to help you for free. The idea of sacrifice, to leave a sacred offering, is often overlooked or misunderstood. It’s a sign of respect and it doesn’t have to be anything huge or expensive– candles, incense, food, little trinkets or donations to a suitable charity for instance.

Any advice on how to connect to your inner goddess?

First of all, you have to realise you have an inner goddess!

It’s very easy with the super-fast paced and stressful world we live in to forget that we’re sparks of divinity and as women, we are goddesses. And as goddesses, we deserve and need to treat ourselves as such.
A very simple and quick way to connect with your inner goddess is to spend a couple of minutes in a peaceful environment. Breathe deeply and be aware of your thoughts floating by (don’t concentrate on them… just imagine them like fluffy clouds moving along the sky on a gentle breeze). When you’re feeling calm, put your hand on your heart and ask yourself “what does my inner goddess
want me to know right now?” Pay attention to the first thought in your mind or the first words from your lips because that’s your inner goddess speaking to you.

Most authors aim is to relay a message to their audience, what is your message to those who might be wondering about the goddess?

If you feel curious about the Goddess then reach out to other people who already bring the divine feminine into their lives (the internet is fabulous for reaching out to Goddess ambassadors), read books & visit blogs. While you travel on this path, look for ‘meaningful co-incidences’ and signs from spirit that help you. Most importantly; relax, explore, and have fun with the Goddess!
